Hello I am a huge cat fan and I finality got a "pet" apartment and am looking at once again getting a cat and was wondering if anyone has ever had a Savannah or an Egyptian Mau. I have kind of fallen in love with a Savannah but am debating whether it is worth spending $800 on her verses a cat from the pound. Thanks for the help.

I've been around cats for a long time, and in my experience, I haven't seen that big of differences between pure breeds and shelter cats in terms of personality. Since the personality of a cat is much more important to me than their looks, I say it's better (and cheaper) to get a shelter cat (since you have more options to choose from).
Also, and, I don't know if this is just my personal experience, but... The few purer breed cats I've had had more health problems.
I'm probably biased, since I have a few mixed-breed (not from a shelter though, they were walmart kittens) cats, and I love them very much. So take everything I say with a grain of salt.

As mentioned above. Read into health issues each pure breed has. I don't know about these in particular, but I do know the short-muzzled cats have eye problems if not taken proper care of.
