after accidentaly coming across an article about zoophilia and your health, i was shocked to see what diseases can be transmitted from animals to people via erotic practices. some of these illnesses are mild and can be easily treated, but others can be VERY hard to treat, and can be fatal. take a look at the Word document that i have provided. it contains a chart for you to see if there's a higher risk in your area. be safe. know your partner.

Do you have statistics for this? How often do people get these and can that be evidence in court?

Oh, no its as near enough as rare as getting brain cancer (no joke intended), unless the animal lives in disgusting conditions (poverty), or there has been a rare break out in the area where you are, like Leptospirosis, animals, especially dogs like to drink from puddles, if happens to have infected urine from another animal/human, it can pass to the animal, the animal would suffer, and you'd realise, before it passed the disease onto you. Another disease that works the same is Brucellosis, there a lots of fecal-oral diseases which means you shouldn't eat from your animal's poo, because of worms and stomach diseases, worms is often more generic, so I suggest your animal is wormed.

Castration may help, but make sex not so pleasurable.
Mad Cow's Disease and others are quite dangerous too.
Its more unprotected farm sex that is dangerous, rather than home sex.

I only have sex with dogs, a male and female, I take the male anally, and so does he with me, I also suck is penis, and he licks mine.
In other words, we have sex, but they are both neutered, but the pleasure to us three is still at maximum, the female is often out of consent, so I spend more time with my dog. But while I study at university and campus I do not see my dogs much.
I haven't died yet, of course I will announce, beyond the grave if I am, seen as there are no real core injections that cover Leptospirosis (Weil's Disease) or Brucellosis (Maltese Fever). I don't see how I would get infected in a modern over-clinical country, do you, anyway, most legally imported animals are vaccinated, so the disease doesn't spread. Third and Second World countries are where you shouldn't be a zoophile.

Being in the US or EU is more likely to add advances of anti-disease measures, however not all States / Provinces / Smaller Countries do provide this. As for zoophilia whilst I am at it; UK and US make it absolutely illegal to put a human penis in any animal apart from the human, and vice versa for animals, UK has more easy to read laws and the laws are straight.

You should be fine, its best to live in quality, if not quantity. Both is twice as good.

Its up to you if you want to stop though.

I can't, I can't even go cold turkey without wanting sex a dog or any other animal over a year, a tried it when I started at the age of 16. Not fun, trust me. Stay with your sexuality, if something makes you stick with it, it isn't your fault xD
