Since dogs naturally have a strong social structure that incorporates sexual activity into it, I would think that having sex with your partner (bitch or dog) might change the nature of your relationship, especially with male animals since the human typically takes the roll of alpha male. And letting a dog mount you, I imagine might disrupt your position.
Anyways just kinda thinking out loud. anyone one have anything to share on the subject of sexuality & social structure in a zoo relationship?

Mammals imprinted by humans have little trouble adjusting to relationships with humans. Dominance becomes situational.
No matter what you think you know from outside observation of animal relationships, there is negotiation and consideration within the relationships.

I've not heard of too many issues with male dogs. That may be due to the fact most people I know own female dogs, but...
I do know one person who has given up on being intimate with more than one bitch because the dominant bitch will attack any other bitch he has sex with. This is a pretty serious issue for him, but his alpha bitch is his favorite. So, there you go. Sometimes the sex does come into play in our relationship to our dogs.
It's not usually the defining point of the relationship, but it can have an effect.

I let my dog mount me and he doesn't really show any signs of being dominant over me. He is more than willing to show his belly to me in submission. He can get a bit cranky when I don't let him mount me for too long. He tends to bite my arm and push me over when he wants it. Not really biting, more like mouthing.
He does get jealous with my other dog for pettings. He tries to block my way to her and chew on her foot when she asks me for pets and I have to tell him to stop it most of the time, just so she can be pets in relief. He doesn't really get jealous at all when I have sex with her. Rather, he gets horny and tries to mount me at the same time. There hasn't been any cases with him attacking her to the point where there is blood. Only play mouthing.
